I use alt. 155 for cents. alt. 171 is ½. alt 172 is ¼.

Never had a computer with the cent sign, not sure my typewriters had it either. I never had a reason to use it.

You can hold the ALT key down and press 155 down on the keypad, release the ALT key and you have the ¢ sign.

I also hold the ALT key down and press 167 and you get the degree º sign. Great for typing recipes.

ascii codes are also great when you need to type spanish words. ie é, ó, ¿, etc. On a laptop you will need to press the "num lock" key and use the keys that have the numbers on them...m=0, j=1, k=2 and on.

he, he. most of my letters are gone too. they disappeared about six months into this HP keyboard. Grrrrrr.
