Just received one with order today in the mail.
package was not over stuffed;
HOWEVER...the back was split open !
It was "not torn"...just split
and delivered that way in the rain.
I would advise taping.
I am using these myself and am disappointed in this.
I stuff a good amount in them
and I apologize to anyone if mine have been delivered this way.

I've been using them, and like them better than the cardboard ones, but I tape all 4 sides in the middle of each, so if the package does split, it will only split 1/2 way and hopefully stop once it reaches the tape.
I have put up to 7 yards in the padded ones, but I felt like it was too tight, so I limit my packaging to 6 yards of cotton fabric in a padded envelope.
Thanks for the heads up.
Just wondering, how much yardage was in your split package.?

As someone else suggested, it would be a good idea to put anything sent in the envelopes in a plastic bag. The plastic bag will help to keep all of the contents together.
If you then squeeze out the air you might be able to get more fabric in the same amount of space. The plastic bag would then help protect the inside contents.
I would also include the sender's and receiver's information put inside the plastic bag as well.
Another comment, put linens as the content of the package, and never use the terminology of "quilt".
It may also prove beneficial to check out using a different delivery company. It may cost a bit more but may be worth it in the end.

Oh, by the way, this was the envelope that I did some "testing" on before I began using them. I tried to poke holes on the outside of it with sharp objects like a pencil or the corner of another package, etc.
The outside "paper like" exterior did eventually tear, but the plastic bubble wrap on the inside didn't.
Still good, to wrap up anything you ship in a plastic bag and seal it before putting it in these envelopes.
