Yeah, that's what I had at 50. Not fun but better than getting my car towed. (Those days around my birthday were loads of fun). I did decline when the technician invited me to watch on the monitor. Some things about me should remain outside of my memory or imagination.

I wonder why some people have one procedure and others have the full monty?
I don't care what they do to me as long as I can have the anesthesia. I love being able to really sleep. Doesn't happen most of the time.

Oh, I forgot - the Dr. printed a bunch of photos for me to take home. Really aren't too bad to look at - but we joked about our "family" photo for christmas....Just kidding

Poor hubby. I've had three (yes I said three) colonoscopies and let me tell you...the minute they tell you that you can't eat...that is all you can think of. Watching TV is the worst..nothing but ads for food.

I had mine quite a few years ago before they came up with the liquid you have to drink to clean things up. Actually they had a liquid but you had to drink literally gallons of it over a 24 hr period, so my gastroenterologist recommended fasting for 3 days. That's what I did, but will try the new improved liquid next time.

The procedure is not bad at all, so tell him to relax. Also, it's a good idea to eat "light" for a couple of days afterwards....big steak or burgers can wait. Tell him I will be thinking about him. :-D

p.s. Donuts and coffee might be good for a first meal Marsye

p.s.s. My Dr. said I have a really pretty colon    Do you think he was flirting

My doctor asked me if he could take a picture of my hysterectomy. He said he had never seen anything like it in his career. I told him he could as long as he put that black bar over my eyes. muuhaha

He gave the pics to Pat. Later Pat asked me if I wanted to see them and I declined, asking him to get rid of the evidence. I found out during a cleaning jag how he did that. He laid them upside down on the desk - THANKYOUVERYMUCH!

I just had the pleasure of turning 50. As a bday present my doctor sets up a colonoscopy for me - joy!). By 1pm I had a headache from not eating. I did make it through the day w/o eating (didn't think that was possible! Then it was time to drink the 1st 1/2 gallon of 'stuff' the doctor prescribe for the 'prep'. Let me tell you it didn't go well at all (no punn intended)! I drank 1/2 of the 1st 1/2 gallon & my tummy got so bloated that when I stood up to answer the phone, w/o warning, I threw up! No problem, I still had the other half to drink... Thought I had drunk enough for the evening but hubby said I needed to drink 6oz more... after just one more sip, I threw up again... By this time it's like 9pm & I have a headache to kill over & the stuff I drank was come'n out the wrong end! Hubby calls the dr 2x and he basically says I should go ahead & drink the other half... yeah right! No f'n way! Some devil woman screams at my hubby & tells him to call the dr BACK and ask about taking miralax. Dr finally agrees, tells hubby I need to take 7 doses now & 7 doses at 2am... I managed to swallow 4 doses... the good news is I was feel'n as though I never wanted to eat ever again lol 2 am come's & I take the other 7 doses... I didn't think things were working... but uhmmmmmm ohhhhh they did!

The procedure - I don't remember hardly anything (good drugs)... I felt a gas pain (not sure if I was awake or not), felt another BIG gas pain (not sure if I thought it or said it out loud) & thought oh my that's A BIG ONE lol Next thing I remember is the nurse wake'n me up & think'n (again not sure if I said it or thought it) but do I HAVE TO WAKE UP!?! guess I was tired.

The dr did find a few polups (won't know for a couple weeks the results of the biopsy although I'm sure everything will be fine because from what I've read it's pretty rare that they are cancerous). So it looks like I'll be have'n the pleasure of another 'go' at it lol I learnt a valuable leasson... to heck w/the stuff the dr prescribes. Mirilax it's EXCEPTIONALLY effective and WAY gentle on the tummy!
