The other thing this can be a sign of is thyroid deficiency. When my thyroid levels are off, I start losing a ton of hair. The other symptoms are depression and extreme fatigue. Of course, this time of year these aren't that unsual for many people in the north to deal with. It's definetely worth talking to your doctor about!

I had read that after gastric bypass you loose some hair so I started taking Biotin before my surgery and never did loose any hair. It worked for me. Carol

Try using Nioxin hair products. I had this problem some years back and it really works.

I have had my thyroid checked many times because it runs in the family. But is always comes back ok. Thyroid tests are notorious for false positives and regular Dr.s wont think outside the box. I'm going to google it and see if there isn't a natural something I can take for it.

Have your Thyroid checked and go to an ENDOCRINOLOGIST!!! Do not let your GP decide he knows enough about Thyroid and the like to treat you. Hyper and Hypo thyroid are symptoms not diagnosis. There is a list as long as your arm of diseases that cause those symptoms. GP's rarely can treat without the help of a Endo. Plus the "normal" range is so large that you can be severely lacking Thyroid hormones and still be within "normal" ranges. You may need to be very insistent to get a referral but do it. Ask me how I know all of this. HA HA

hair loss can also be a sign of diabetes. if you are pregnant this can be a problem. they usually do not test for sugar even though they draw blood. that is why they call diabetes the silent killer

I did not know that. I am diabetic. I control it with pills, and it is controlled. I am going to call my Doc.
