I gotta agree, I know they are the trend and all but I wonder how all these girls and guys are gonna look later on in life. My sons have a few but at least I cant see them all the time.

It is huge and just looks sort of tacky. I see beautiful young ladies in beautiful gowns, and then they turn around and you see a huge tattoo and it just spoils the image, for me anyway. My daughter always wanted a rose over her breast when she was young. Now she laughs about where it would be and how it would look now that she is older and sagging. LOL I think what bothers me most aabout them, it seems that for so many, once you have one, they can't seem to stop getting more and more. My GS x-girlfriend started with one on her shoulder, a very small and nice one, , and now she has them on her arms, legs, boobs, stomach, hips and back, and each time she seemed to go bigger and bigger. But, to each their own thing. The idea of one small one doesn't turn me off, but I hate seeing large ones and lots of them on ladies.

This is certainly a personal decision, I can only respond as to what I would do. I have three tattoos myself. They are pin dots that were used to mark my chest for radiation. I don't really want any more, although it's fun to see the look on young people's faces when I ask them if they would like to see one of my tats.:)
My main concern is putting all that ink under the skin. I, myself have had enough chemical warfare!

I always thought I would like an ankle bracelet tattoo, but never had the extra cash. Any other location, I always think about what the tattoo would look like in my 80's when my skin starts to sag and wrinkle -- do I want to look at that every day? Probably not.

Thanks again for all the input - I have decided to put the tatoo idea away at this time. I may just get a drawing of my tatoo idea I can get into a quilt somehow and when I can; get a pendant made. I read Dewie's response and it reminded me I don't need anymore needles in my life or ink under my skin.

I say go for it. I always wanted one but I am glad I waited. About 6 months ago I got a tattoo of Scooby Doo holding onto an anchor, and I love it. I need to color it in but it is painful so I am holding off for now.

Scooby is my nickname and has been for almost 20 years now and the anchor represents my 24 years in the Navy. So that is why I went with that. To symbolize the two aspects of my life that intertwined and it really means something to me..

Enjoy it but take a friend to hold your hand, it helps.

I got my first and only tattoo, a cone-nosed assassin bug, behind my ear when I was 50 and haven't regretted it for a moment, it makes me happy! (I'm sure some of you are shocked!)

My niece has one of a shark on her upper thigh on the outter side, she did this after she swam from Alcatraz to San Francisco beach and she won in her age catagory which was 45. She also did an Iron man competition in Florida on her 50th birthday and she put a little Ironman logo on her ankle which hurt more than her thigh.
