I think the SQA is a year-long gift-giving exchange where the participants are assigned a partner and assorted gifts and goodies (squishies and firmies) are sent anonymously. At a specific date in December, the identity of the angels and "angelees" is revealed.

No, it is just silly. All it does is create havoc and repetition of "Where are you?" The quilt angel thing is a version of secret pal. Somehow, they expect other members to forget where they are, just because it is no longer displayed. Not making a lot of sense to me, but who knows?
It also sets a bad example for newbies who do not feel it is neccessary to fill out a profile so folks can get to know them.

It's just all part of a sense of fun...I'm not in the Secret Angel swap, but if I was, and you saw a postmark of Redmond, OR, it wouldn't be hard to guess who I was, by my location here.
By taking out my location, if someone doesn't know me well, then they might have a harder time guessing...
It's just a game, it's fun, kind of like knowing where everyone is from...what difference does it make?
