Home made scatter rugs. Just posting for your information.
I just purchased a couple cotton braided scatter rugs for our entrances (where they get the worst dirt and grime) and I can wash them in my washer and dryer. The lady said they don't slip on the floor, however once I got them home, they in fact they do slip - solution - the rubber cupboard liners, we type use in our Motorhome and purchased at WalMart.
I cut one the length of the scatter rug, then laid it on the floor under the rug, and now they stay in place.

careful with those rugs, good you stopped the slipping...but they are notorious for letting the dirt sift thru them to the floor. Yes, you can wash the rug, but remember to lift the rug and vacuum the dirt quietly stacking up underneath it. Ask me how I know....

I would never have a rug without a non-slip backing anymore. I had a bath mat that didn't have any backing and it slid out from under me when I was getting out of the shower. I ended up in the ER with a gash from my toes to just above my ankle. When I fell I caught the marble edge of the shower stall with my foot. The ER didn't do anything but pour a saline solution on it and sent me home. I wound up with a raging infection, was on a PIC line for a month and almost lost my foot. Needless to say, that bath mat went in the trash.

They also sell rubber rug lining at Joanns by the yard. It is 54" wide and usually runs around $14 per yard (but use a 50% coupon!). It has a wider weave than the shelf liner and I also use it for under my machine pedals. When dirty, I just rinse it in the sink.
