I really could not say...I only know that my Bella has remained bug and insect free. My Amish friends have also used it successfully on their horses in Indiana. Since it can be used on people as well, I suggest that you may want to cut the quantities of the recipe in half/make a smaller batch and see if it works successfully for your animals/pets (whatever they may be), and use it as a healthy alternative for you or your children/grandkids, etc. You have nothing to lose and the health and safety of your beloved animals to gain.

I am going to check with my vet before I put it on my cat since cats spend so much time grooming I want to be sure it is safe for them. Take care.

I'd be curious to what the vet has to say on that. My dog likes to lick his paws/legs. We always say he is 'grooming his handsome legs'.

I didn't know about the cider vinegar in water, that is an easy thing to do. I also had heard garlic keeps fleas away, but didn't know that it helped with worms too!

    Thanks for the tips.

My Bella also likes to lick her paws and legs, etc. I had bought Frontline from my Vet at one of Bella's early regular appointments. Then I went on line to research. I was frightened by what I read and I did not want to poison my Bella so that the ticks would die if they bit her. My Bella was only 2 lbs 8 ozs. at the time! I RETURNED the Frontline product to my Vet and told her of my findings...she gave me a full refund and her blessing to use the home recipe on Bella.

When our big fur kids were still with us, I would simply put a whole garlic clove inside a piece of hamburger and toss one to each dog. They would gulp it down right away!! Very rarely saw one scratching. And they lived most of the time inside with us.

Anybody have a good recipe to repel the cats from digging in my garden / flower beds? Not only they use them as litter box but they come out if it pretty dirty.
    -------------------
Around here we have 3 big toms who come up on my porch to pee on my screen door, which is where Koko lies in the sun on warm days. So I got a big container of hot pepper and spread it around on the porch in front of the screen. No more cats.

To prevent my dogs from digging up plants, we used to dig a little hole and dump in cayenne pepper, and then put a thin layer of dirt over it. That usually did the job.
