I'm SO glad for you. My oldest son hasn't smoked since August. He and my DL used e-cigarettes. He hasn't used those since August either. I think she still does once in a while.

My way of making it work was to treat it like alcoholics treat alcohol....you can NOT have a SINGLE drink. I had to admit that I was really addicted to cigarettes and that I would NEVER be able to touch them again. I used alot of mental stuff like the months before I quit, every time I would light up I'd think of how that horrible stuff was sticking to my lungs, etc. What had killed my progress in previous attempts was the whole "well I'm gonna let myself smoke just this week while on vacation at the beach" or "while out celebrating this one night", etc. It honestly did come down to a "just say no" thing.
Now....if I can "just say no" to the snacking! LOL :D Wish me luck! :D

I am proud of all of you that have quit. As a respiratory therapist, the smokers of the world are my patients. No matter how long you smoked, every day you are away from it is a day more you lungs can heal. And, luckily, lungs do heal. From lung cancer to COPD, having "bum" lungs is a very hard illness to have. Without the lungs, nothing else will function properly.

For those of you that haven't kicked the habit yet, don't quit quitting!

Well done, I think that nicotine is the hardest drug to give up.
