Congratulations. Here is a big hug for you because I know it was not an easy thing to do.

Congrats! I am so proud of you! My Little Sister quit about a year ago too, she was a chain smoker and it was so hard for her. I agree, you need a pat on the back!

Congrats! I quit (again) last August. It's harder to quit in a tobacco state! At least Bowling Green just passed a smoking ban - finally!

It was somewhat easier to quit in CA. And I lasted 7 years that time so it is important to remember to JUST SAY NO :-)

I started smoking when I was 17. I stopped for a whole year at age 23 during my first pregnancy and for a few months afterward. I started again. Stopped again at age 33 with 2nd pregnancy, but started again 3 months after giving birth. In November 2000 I QUIT for GOOD!!! I gave it to the Lord, and He got me through it, COLD TURKEY!! :-)

Now it's been over 10 years, and I never looked back even one day. It is so good to be free of that habit!!

Congratulations!! Anyone can do it if they just persevere. It's not easy, but you CAN do it!!! Do it like I did...with the Lord's help. :-)

Congrats to all of you who have quit smoking. I know it was a long and sometimes painful journey, but you did it!

Thank you all SO much. Some of you asked how I did it. Honestly....it was sort of a long process. The first step was deciding that I really did want to quit. I then started making myself read all about the stuff that we try to ignore (lung cancer, throat cancer, chemo, etc.) and getting real with myself about how STUPID I was being by smoking. Then....I started making myself picture smoke messing up my lungs with each inhale. So....after basically being really negative about smoking for a while I woke up one morning (one year ago today) and noticed that I only had 2 cigs left. I thought "ugh...gotta go to the store" as I lit one of the last 2 I had. All smokers have those moments when you light a cig and it doesn't taste good for some reason; we usually just smoke through it. That morning I had one of those moments and I thought "it doesn't taste good so put it out" and I did. I said a prayer asking for strength and put the pack with one cig in it away. My plan was to simply see how long I could go before smoking that one cig. I then put all my ashtrays, etc. away and the rest is history. We are celebrating tonight and my daughter is making dinner. Thanks so much for all ya'lls comments! :D
