I agree with this. I also think sometimes depression is involved.

We are lucky that we have a hobby we are passionate about. It's hard to imagine a bored quilter.

I have never been bored in my life. I always found something to entertain myself.
I retired for a year and made 18 quilts, did housework, laundry and took care of three dogs and four cats and a pet bird.Fed outside birds and hummingbirds. I went back to work to have some resting time. Due to old age and elderly pets I now have 3 cats, pet bird and one dog. I still quilt the biggest part of my home time and do all the other stuff. My Husband lives to work and never plans to retire. I think he still likes work so he can rest up. We always have something to do and always coming up with new projects. Boring isn't part of our make up.

When I retired...I had people ask me...aren't you going to be bored??? When I go and visit them if I am in town where I worked...they ask, are you bored yet?? I say (and will always say) No Way!! I always find something to do.
I had a couple people ask...I would be bored. I tell them, get a hobby, volunteer, etc.
Maybe because those that say they would be bored...live in apts and don't have the option of doing garden or yard work and/or don't have hobbies. I feel then it is a great time to start a hobby. But I also say "You make it..what you want to". If you think it is going to be boring..then it probably will be.

At home I'm never bored. There is always more that I want to do than I can get done in a day. And I haven't had cable or TV (I do have DVDs) since 2005. I live in a rural area. But when I go to visit/check up on my parents who live a couple hours away in a city, I am bored stiff. I always take a sewing machine along and a project to work on and several books. I think it's because all my parents want to do is sit and watch TV or play dominoes. The last trip was horrible, their health is failing so they weren't even up to playing dominoes. Then the power went out early Thursday evening and was not restored until Saturday afternoon. Couldn't sew and it was too dark to read-we were hanging out in the basement where it was comfortable, but nothing to do but sit and talk, or watch them sleep.

Let's be honest. We are quilters and quilters aren't the type of people who get bored. We usually have great imaginations. We are always challenging ourselves to try something new, different or a little harder. We sew, we create, we are life-long learners. We are givers and we make quilts for charity and quilts for gifts, etc.

I don't understand the concept of being bored, but people who are bored, don't usually have any type of hobby. I really feel sorry for them. They are missing out on so much.

Count me on the never bored list. I work with about 85 women and all I ever here from them is "I'm bored if I stay home." Really! I don't even have a family to keep me busy and I am always doing something. I am the person in the room who wants to live forever because there just isn't enough time to do every thing I want to do! I just tell them to get a hobby!
peace

I have never been bored. I like to sew, quilt, I paint in watercolors[I haven't lately], Cook. How can we get bored? There aren't enough hours in the day. Also have a sister in nursing home 5 minutes from me that I see that she is okay. I like to mess around in oils. And I CAN'T STAY OFF THIS BOARD. I'm afraid I'll miss something.LOL
