Murphy's oil soap but not often and only a damp mop. 50 years experience.

It was suggested to me to use a product called Bruce Floor Cleaner. I have not found it yet.

Wipe off heavy dirt with light soap and water, rinse and dry and use Bona X. Great stuff!

when I had my oak floors installed, I was told to use white vinegar and water, once every 6 mos. is good. that person didn't have 2 dogs and an assortment of people in the house constantly.

I was also suffering dearly with gorgeous tile with disgusting grout (poor choice n my part- light beige). I researched and bought a Hoover hard floor cleaner. It cleans and suctions up the water. Works great on the tile and hard wood. The tile is slowly brightening up too. I love it!!!

I just bought a HAAN steam mop- not for the floors but because it came with a pad to sanitize carpets. Going to try that out today.

Had hardwood floor installed 4yrs ago. It was sort of sealed with a water base poly. Well over the next few yrs it looked like it was 100yrs old. Called a man who does nothing but hardwood floors. He said it needed to be sealed. So he came and cleaned the floors resealed with an oil base and WOW do they look nice. Told me to use a gentle soap or more like a steam cleaner, got a Shark for Christmas and does it make my floor look nice.

IngeMK, Bona is the best product for hardwood floors. I work at a home improvement place and we sell the product. Eiltcoq.

We have re-claimed pine floors (some of the boards are 24+" wide). I use Orange Glo wood floor cleaner. You vac/sweep the floors first then just squeeze it out and mop in on with a cloth that goes on the special mop head. It cleans them shines them up, no rinsing and no streaks. I've tried the Bruce floor cleaner and didn't like it, it seemed sticky. I've been thinking about the steam cleaners for my tile not the wood floors and was wondering how well they worked.

I recommend calling the person who installed the floors and asking them. Finishes vary a *lot* and some seemingly safe cleaners will remove certain finishes. Ask me how I know..... (no, don't!)

Bona is the one recommended by our installer for our finish.

We were told about a cleaner at Home Depot called Renew( not sure if that is the correct spelling for it) They told us you can even use it on tile to give it a nice shine. Still have to get to a home depot to get some but definitely going to try it
