This is a wonderful, informative site. No matter what your interests. That said, I need info on the best way to clean our
hard wood floor. We had it installed three years ago and I have
only had to clean it by dust moping or occasionally wiping up an
a drip here and there. This year we have had all kinds of work
people in and they have tried to keep the floor clean, plus family members for the month between Thanksgiving and Christmas. The floor doesn't need major cleaning but more than dust mop. The floor is not laminate but is oak hard wood.
Thanks in advance for all the good advice I know you will be able to give.

I use Murphy's Oil soap. It cleans it well & if it's good enough for fine furniture, it's good enough for my floors. Good luck! When my floors were new I hardly ever washed them in fear of losong that glow but after we got our Yorkie I found myself scrubbing them often.

Thanks for the info. I just got hardwood floors in dining and living room this fall. Now I know what to do to clean them.

you don't say but do they have a poly satin finish, I just had new oak hardwoods put down this month and the installer said that swifer mop now makes a cleaner to use in your swifer special for hardwood floors or he said a solution of water with some white vingar more water and light on the vingar. I think I will try the swifer went I need it.

My floors are hand scraped and don't shine. I use vinegar water - about a cup of vinegar in a bucket of water. Wring the mop so that it is only damp. I do this every few months - as needed. Actually, it needs it more than I do it.
