    Geeze, I didn't think of that, DUH! I guess this cold has my brain on pause. I'll have to look at the batting to see if it will hold up to a washing.

    Isn't there a cover over the batting? Usually you can just remove the cover and wash that, then replace over the batting.

    When my ironing board is freshly washed, I iron a large piece of freezer paper onto my cover before using starch. It really keeps the surface cleaner. When the freezer paper starts to look nasty, I peel off the dirty piece and iron on another piece.

    That is a great idea! I just made a small ironing pad about 15" sq from an old ironing board pad and an old sheet--encased the pad with a "pillowcase" and sewed it shut. I use this at my cutting station rather than running over to the ironing board. Well I got smart the other day and put this pad on my ironing board thinking it will save wear and tear on the cover and when all stiff from starch etc I will throw it in the washer.
