I use my steam cleaner on my tile floors. I didn't like how it left my wood floors, even though it said to use on sealed wood floors. They looked milky & streaked. Love the Bona on my wood floors.

I have the finish, mostly use it in areas that are more prone to wear. Kitchen entry, hall, music room basically.

I have high gloss finish anyway, when I bought my place, I had my two pups who could do a number on floors, so it's actually something like 10 coats of finish.

I purchased the Shark steam cleaner to do Nature Stone floors and also to use it on my Armstrong kitchen floor. The kitchen floor looked great until I got down on my hands & knees (doesn't happen often) and gave it a scrub. Holy Cow! The filthy water!
The steamer is fine for occasional cleaning, but nothing beats soap on vinyl.

I was afraid to use it on hardwood.

I have high end laminate flooring and porcelain tile throughout my house. I recently purchased the Hoover Floor-Mate from Amazon.com and L-O-V-E it!! It works beautifully on the wood-laminate and on the tile? Well, the grout has never looked better.

I have never heard of Bona. I use white vinegar and a old soft rag just barley dampened, but that is how I was taught "back (way back) in the day."

We have engineered wood flooring and I use a steam mop (Shark). I have two cats and don't use any kind of cleaner because it is all poisonous to them when they lick their paws.

We have prefinished wood floors and I use vinegar/water and a microfiber cloth to get up the spots. It leaves it really shiny. I have tile in my kitchen and mop it, but the grout has darkened. With the steamers and Floor mate- do they get the corners and edges? I was going to see if I could rent one and try it.

Don't use steam on wood! Use Bona; it's the best and recommended by my artist/wood floor installer.

Ditto on the wood floor! And don't let the surface coating (polyurethane?) wear off. Be sure to refinish before you get down to bare wood. Water will get into the wood and it will discolor and raise grain. Dirt gets in, and then you are having a major sand and refinish.
