I believe it is because they don't engage in conversation any more. They text each other from room to room and are even texting whilst one is trying to engage them in some other activity. If they live in an echo - chamber all of the time, no new stuff is likely to get in there and stimulate anything.

My husband, when I'm helping him do something, will stop for a minute and say to me "Just hold what you got".

Also saw a sign in a store in the TN mountains that said "Well butter my butt and call me a biscuit, look who's here". Never heard that before!

Here's one you probably don't know or won't appreciate. From my grandaddy, "she's so skinny she has to jump around in the shower to get wet." I can just hear him know, makes me laugh!

I've said a bunch of these for years....some others I say are:

Her butt is 3 axe handles wide

    or

Her butt looks like the south end of a north bound mule

My favorite saying is "If I tell you a chicken will pull a plow, you get the harness."
(meaning I only state the truth or facts)

He's meaner than a junk yard dog.

when we had forgotten to comb our hair,Gram would tell us,
"your hair looks like a hoorrah's nest" We never did figure out what hoorrah was. rofl
If I frowned, Mom would say that my face would freeze like that.
Where do they come up with this stuff??
