Have you all noticed that the light is not as bright with the new bulbs as with the old. You have to buy one of the biggest wattages you can get to see good. Also the daylight ones are the brightest. Maybe the government should take care of important matters first, the reform all of us.

Go to Wal Mart and buy up on the old light bulbs. We recently read that if they are left on for long periods they can catch on fire. Also if you drop one on carpet...you need to remove that section and replace it. Can't vacuum the stuff up either. This is gov. at it's best OOOOO I meant looking out for our best.LOL

Ace Hardware, Home Depot, IKEA, Lowe's, Orchard Supply and other retailers offer in-store recycling.

Some bulb manufacturers and other organizations sell pre-labeled recycling kits that allow you to mail used bulbs to recycling centers. The cost of each kit includes shipping charges to the recycling center.
In my area, Lowe's also recycles CFLs. You might check there.

Don't tell the "light bulb" police, but we are stocking up on the old bulbs (which are still easy to find locally) and hopefully have enough to last until I die!

You get more mercury from eating fish than in a CFL.

Now they're coming out with LED lights. They look more like the old incandescent lights, but have several little lights in the globe part. They are a lot safer but a lot more expensive, too - Like $30 a bulb! YIKES!!! It will be "awhile" before we buy any of those, even if they are supposed to last like 20 yrs. I will say that our electric bill did go down a whole lot when we switched to CFLs, though. A LOT!

American bulb companies are already out of business. Last one closed last fall.

I was just at Wal-Mart. They still have regular bulbs. Also I saw some at Lowe's too. Stock up while you can.
