How to give a cat a pill
#31
I hope my husband doesn't have to go away for work any time soon as our darling siamese cat has heart failure at 8 years old. She now has to have three tablets twice daily. He can give Mia her tablets without too much trouble but I don't know what I will do if he goes away. I'm thinking lots of scratched arms. We are just so blessed that we have caught Mia's condition early although we don't actually know how long we will have her with us as there is nothing else we can do for her. I do love the " How to give a cat a pill" It made me laugh so much.

My technique:
- Keep pill in right hand
- Approach cat from behind
- Sit on cat, locking your feet together so she can't back away
- With left hand, pull her head back toward your chest and pry open mouth
- Aiming CAREFULLY, drop pill into open mouth.
- Hold cat's mouth shut and stroke her throat
Aim is critical! If the pill gets dropped right into the thoat, then she has to swallow it.
PS. Stealth helps.
PPS. It also helps if the cat is deaf ;-)
