First thing I do is make a cup. Like it black. Without it I am a mess.

I like a cup of coffee or cocoa in the morning, but I don't need it. I think the warmth of it is soothing and relaxing so it's a nice way to start the day. If I don't have it, I'm fine. And it's usually only one cup.

I do like to have a few cups in the morning. Get up drink a small glass of grapefruit juice then a cup of coffee. I am the only one in my house that drinks it, but I do make a pot every morning and sip on it throughout the day. My doctor tells me that it is go for us again. Don't you love how things become "bad" for us for a few years, then become "good" again. Love to add a little hazelnut syrup to it, but no cream or sugar.

When I worked evening shift at the hospital I got in a bad habit of drinking a Coke about half-way through to perk me up. (hospital coffee is horrible). That got me on a Coke kick, but I quit drinking it finally. That stuff is brutal for you!

I've got to have my coffee in the morning. The caffeine gets me going and keeps me focused. Without it, it's a caffeinated headache. One reason people without their coffee are grumpy. I was so grateful when I did Weight Watchers that the counselor said, don't mess with your first cup of coffee. Even if it has full sugar and cream. It just isn't worth it.

A first cup of coffee and a newspaper to read are VERY important to me. I think it is as much about the ritual as the caffeine! It is just not the same trying to read a newspaper online.........

I've never been able to drink more than one sip of any coffee that I have ever tried. I always thought as a child that I would know when I became an adult because I'd start drinking coffee. My parents were heavy coffee drinkers all year long. I must not be an adult yet.

I tried a sip of black coffee, with cream, with sugar, with cream and sugar, international flavor... they all tasted foul! I finally decided that I just don't like the taste when I didn't like coffee-flavored ice cream. That is the only flavor of ice cream that I don't love.

Recently, I was given a gift card to a coffee shop. I bought some pastries and told the employees of my aversion to coffee. They said they would let me try theirs. Maybe I had tried poor-quality coffees before. I said "okay, give me a taste of your best coffee." They gave me a small container of their best iced coffee. I took one sip and almost spit it out. I wish I could have seen a video of the face I made. It was worse tasting than any medicine that I have ever had.

It baffles me how taste buds are so radically different in people. I've never understood the almost universal appeal of coffee-flavored anything.

I love my morning cup of coffee, or should I say three! I drink it with half and half, no sugar.

I didn't drink coffee until I worked 2nd shift at a hospital when I was in my 20's. When I was younger I always loved the smell of coffee but not the taste, I found it bitter and always preferred tea.

When I need lab work that requires a fast, I go into a complete funk. It disrupts my routine and I am a creature of habit. The first thing of my morning is to head to the Keurig, and start that first cup. While drinking it I enjoy reading everything on this forum until I have finished my 3 cups.

JENNER8R, oh my gosh don't even get me started on coffee ice cream, it's to die for!!! Ice cream is one of my favorite treats but then to have it coffee flavored, ahhhhhhh.

    LOL!!!

Me too. Veeeerry important.... I need those two cups to jumpstart my brain. First order of the morning... get coffee! Can't function or communicate till I've had my coffee. I've had two doctors tell me to give it up and I just looked at them and said, "That isn't going to happen," Lol. It's the caffeine, of course! Too much and my stomach is a mess, so I have to be careful, but it's so hard to stop drinking it after my two cups.

Some people do understand the medical need for coffee... When I went in have blood work done not long ago, of course I had to be fasting. So I missed my coffee that morning. After the blood draw they put me in an exam room to wait for the dr. After 30 minutes I was out in the hallway, yelling for a nurse to tell me when the dr. was coming! All she said was, "Would you like a cup of coffee?" She understood.

By the way, Haagen Daz makes the very best coffee ice cream! Their Coffee Chocolate Chip is absolutely to die for.
