our daughter was up over holidays and has gone home to pack up and move back in with us after being on her own for 15 years. she lost her job six months ago. when she was here she slept on an inflatable bed in the livingroom. we have recently moved back to the family ranch. son and family moved into our old home. my grandparents house is half the size of ours and all the rooms are very small with high ceilings and already full of stuff. was not able to start the garage as planned because had to rebuild one of the barnes. now looks like mom will be moving in with us also. husbands plan is to convert a inclosed side porch into either a spare bedroom or a sewing/painting/sanity (or is that insanity) room for me. we will all surive....right???????

when my son and wife moved in for a while I took over the dining room area. no one uses the table anyway so no one missed it when we took it down and I moved my sewing desk in. everyone would rather have tv trays and when we ate together we turned it into a family movie night.

You must love him very much and want to help in any way you possibly can. I would too; being a parent, I totally understand.

Time to update the walk-in attic. Is that a possibility? DH and I are do-it-yourselfers, so we would tackle a project like that. It is amazing what can be accomplished for relatively little money. Maybe DS can help with the labor?????

I sew in the kitchen. It forces me to pick up after myself. I stage my projects in clear totes and only take them out when I am working on them.

I wouldn't be so quick to give up my craft space. Or to make it too comfortable for him to live at home. He needs to know it's temporary. Maybe the question should be, where to put your son?
