My Grandad's grandparents were German. I also have English, Irish, & Cherokee in my bloodline. My MIL's maiden name was Van so there is more German on my DH's side than mine. He also has some Scottish, English, & an unknown American Indian. We're Hines 57.

My drling grd daughter is engaged to a very fine fella from Germany. He was brought up in Berlin, behind the wall...... very interesting young man, and we are so happy for both of them. He is here now on a 5 year work program, and works for a German Company here in Michigan....He is an engineer., and very quickly speaks good English. she must soon start to study the German language, they are going to Germany in December for the holidays.
I am full blood Dutch, and can understand much of what he says in his German language.....

My son in law (Reutzel)is part German. My daughter calls her 3 sons and her husband her German boys. My brother served in the army in Germany. I studied German in college a half a century ago, still remember a bit: eins, drie... zimmer, oh well, not even enough to say a bit! But it was fun reading all this...

Gutentag. we were in Germany for 3 years with the army in Hanue outside of Franfurt. We very much enjoyed. We came home with 2 things we really wanted- a Lichten Bogen and a baby on the way- thank God for the German doctors

I'm not a German but got to live in Germany a couple of times when I was young. LOVED it!! I still enjoy German food when I can find a place that serves real German food. My family and I still speak German to eachother when we are together.

In 25 Tagen lande ich in Frankfurt. Ich esse fuer Euch mit. KEIN hamburger.
USA Buerger seit Jan 1967. Deutsch rede ich jeden Tag per Skype.
