Hubby usually plants a garden. I can when we have a huge crop of something. I mainly can from our orchard. We have two varieties of apples different seasons, pears, peaches, cherry trees, blackberries, raspberries, gooseberries and occasional wild strawberries,And four variety of grapes. that's more than enough work for me. I'd rather be quilting.

I hadn't had a veggie garden for years. Our new home included a veggie garden and a cold room. So last year hubby and I had fun planting and watching the garden grow and eating fresh veggies.
From the looks of it outside today it will be a long time before we can get out there again. The snow is still 3 feet deep and the temp. is -30 C.

I have 2 gardens and can, freeze, jam or jelly anything I can. Sometimes I have to look for it through the weeds. I like to keep my cellar full. I have fruit trees and blackberry bushes as well. I love the fresh taste!

It is going to be fun. Anyone with great recipes for canning that they would be willing to share please PM me so I can get a recipe file started.
One member of the church has offered us half an acre to use so we should have lots of veggies

I am soooooo glad there are so many gardners here. If anyone has any really good canning recipies that do not require a pressure cooker, would you please post them? Also, I can't use a heavy tiller. Could someone recommend one that I might be able to use?
