I'm totally the perennial gardener. My yard is really wild, as I am more the English garden type. Nothing formal for me. I live in the country and love my gardens. I have had to convert them to low maintainence as the fibromyalgia developed so they are a little wilder than I intended but they are still wonderful and they make me very happy.
I include perennial herbs but miss the 40x40' formal herb garden I had when I lived in Ohio. No way I could manage it here tho. Plus I just don't have the soil for it now. Now I have acidic glacial till and rather than fight it, I have learned to adapt to it.

I have a flower garden. I have roses, black-eyed susans, butterfly bush, on and on. I try to have a different flower for each season, so there are blooms all year long (almost) In the spring, tulips, crocuses, bleeding heart(blooms spring and most of the summer)& irises. Summer the roses etc. and in the fall are the mums. I like to have cut flowers in my house as much as possible.
A sample of my roses are on my picture for this webpage.

how awesome...I do perennial out front as well....this year took a huge toll on it, and I am replacing the lost items with herbs I think!

oh to live where I could grow cabbages again....the bugs in OK do not allow for any cabbages, broc, cauliflower, brussell sprouts...or turnips...I hate the bugs here...makes for difficult organic gardening for sure!

Lovely pix..thanks for sharing!

I grew up eating only home raised fruits/veggies/meat. So yes I also have a garden. I have recently started working with a bog plot, putting in flowers, horseradish and cress. Just wish I knew what other edibles could go into the bog. I love putting my boots on and taking the garden wagon back to the woods and sloshing thru the muck. Guess I haven't grown up yet!!

I have several garden beds for vegetables and flowers. Gardening gives me a wonderful opportunity to see things grow, and it reminds me of quilting. In gardening, we prepare the soil, plant tiny seeds, nurture them along, and see a beautiful and practical result! In quilting, we take similar steps of preparation, and the results are beautiful and practical, too! Love it!
