My kids had pet turtles, snakes, frogs..etc. We have even gone as far as stopping on the side of the road to rescue turtles grossing the road.

Found another photo of one of my special babies that I wanted to share. This little one was having a very hard time getting out of the case and left alone in the pen would have had a very bad outcome...once the case is ruptured/broken, the insects move in very quickly....I was lucky to find this one in time! Yes, those are my hands...and I've earned everyone of those age spots!

    Happy Hatch Day!

How adorable! Did you keep that one as your special pet?

Thank you! Of course I kept the little darlin'...I all but gave birth to her! The vet is the only person I've ever allowed to adopt any of the hatchlings I've been blessed to find in my pen...she's taken on a couple and her son loves them and learns from his experience with them. Maride, you know that he will likely have them to share with his grandkids...doesn't that sound fantastic?

I hear you about that. I tell my kids that since I have no money to leave them when I am gone, I will leave each a couple of turtles. If they are lucky, they will be able to pass them on to their own kids and not worry about an inheritance. You know...Here honey, this turtle used to belong to your grandmother and now is yours. Aren't you lucky? Let's see how they like that. If they are at all like me they will love the turtles.
