Absolutely you want a Maine Coon! I have two - Ophelia and Phoebe - and they are the best companions! They aren't too loud, they're very loving, and very gentle creatures.

I had one. He stood 12 inches at the shoulders, could easily place his feet up on the kitchen counters & weighed 18 pounds. He was a super mouser. All my neighbors loved him for getting rid of all the mice & rats. He had beautiful fluffy fur, skirts & tail. He never used a litterbox until several months before he died. He'd go rattle the door handles & say "OW OUT'!. He kept a tight reign on his territory, which was 3 square blocks. No other cat could hold a candle to him. He loved to play chase & hide-n-seek with our collie. He got along well with all my dogs. I'd love to have another Mainecoon cat, but sadly I have delevoped major allergies & can no longer have a cat.

So my vote would be a big fat YES :).

They're wonderful. We see them in our shelters pretty often. I thought it was odd but we see many rarer breeds, too.

Post a pic or a video if you get one.

I love that you have a Phoebe. Pip, my sister-in-law had a Mr. Phoebe!

They are an oversized furry pillow. The are the closest a cat can get to being a dog. Some like water and will take a swim in the pool all by themselves. And . . . they do agility just like dogs do.They are quiet, loving and hopefully can stand up to our 2 Australian Shepherds.
