I was diagnosed 5 years ago with fibro. I also have RA, sjogrens and and celiac disease (allergic to wheat/gluten). I do alright until early evening, then I stiffen up and just plain ache. Some nights I take advil before bed. I was on Celebrex, but found the advil worked better. We also invested in a tempur-pedic bed. Best thing we ever did. Fibro stinks, but I count my blessings. God's been very good to me and I can put up with this until I go home. :)

They keep stressing exercise so I took the jump and joined Curves. Not a bad work out, a few I couldn't do.

Now comes the problem. I also have a bad back (arthritis in the spine, extra vertibra and the spur is attached to my hip,and a crush disc in my neck.) Well if I help one thing the next one acts up worst. Back has no torque so I have been off my feet for a week now. It hurts to even walk. I walk every day even if it is ony around and around the house. So now have to decide if curves is worth the hurt and immobility it causes me for the next few days to a week. lol if it isn't one thing it is another.

Looking into putting a hot tub out back and see how that helps.

I may have it. I've been dealing with numb feet, tingling burning feet, upper back hurting, knees want to give out, hips hurt, buttocks hurt. Dealt with it for about 7 years cause I had no insurance. I do now and for about a year now, I've seen several specialtists, MRI, x-rays, physical therapy. So far all they have said is that they see some arithitis or DDD (disk degenerative disease). My primary doctor has me taking lyrica and an Nsaid. They gave me what is called a pain killer, tramadol, it is about useless to me. I'm sure extra strength tylenol is more potent. I'm scheduled to go to doctor 200 miles away for some sort of nerve test. I asked my primary doctor if I could have fibramalgia and she told me she didn't like to give anyone that diagnosis because it has such a stigma to it. Told me she rather just treat the symptoms. My mind doesn't work this way. I want a name to it. My sister in law is diagnosted with it. She said that it takes an average of 2 years of bouncing back and forth from doctor to specialist, possibly even a visit to a Head Shrink before anyone will finally tell you that you have fibramalgia. I wish now I'd been able to go to the doctor's 6-7 years ago. I'll be 46 in 2 days. I certainly don't want to be given any diagnosis, I want a straight darn answer. I'd also like to be able to walk through Wal-mart without feeling older than the spry 75 year olds passing me by as I lumber along. Last couple of months my feets and lower legs are swollen. I am told it is most likely the lyrica causing that. Oh great, another symptom, lol, grrrr. Got to laugh to keep from crying, they say....or is that laugh to keep from going insane? :-D

We have a hot tub and it does help for a short while. It also dries my already dry skin out more. So there I go with that issue.

    Gramma:
Put the hot tub in your bathroom. I'm up this morning at 2:30 because all the back and arthritis problems you speak of I also have and I get up at all hours of the night and take a jaccuzzi to help my sore joints and back. Like you, exercise helps in some areas but brings on problems in others. You are right, "if it's not one thing it's another." If your tub is out in the back yard would you use it as often as you need it? I would NOT go in our backyard to juccuzzi in the middle of the night but in the bathroom, it's always there!

This is what happens to me when I overdo...I washed inside and out 2 windows last Thursday and I'm still paying the price.
If I walk the dog a bit too fast, I'm paying for a while...I'm up and down my stairs several times a day, so that and normal walking of the dog will have to be enough...
