How many of us are organ donors?

Count me in! I did make it clear that I would like my lungs to go to a "Cystic Fibrosis" candidate. My Grandson has that dreaded disease and hopefully he never will need a lung transplant but if he does, I hope they will be available to him.

I am an organ donor, as is my whole family. My late husband received a kidney transplant, which allowed us to have 3 extra years with him.

I'm probably the odd-lady out here, but I am NOT a donor. I have done numerous procurements in the OR, taking organs from a brain dead person to get them to someone in need. Although I realize that it's a noble thing to do, I just can't agree to being the one on the table.
I've had several friends that had donations, and they didn't have a huge improvement in quality of life, simple a couple more years.
I'n not afraid of dying, but I prefer quality to quantity. I would support my children's decisions if they wanted to be a donor, but it's not for me.

My mother-in-law and brother-in-law both had kidney transplants also. Their quality of life was improved greatly, as was my late husband's. His donated kidney was still working fine when he died from other problems. I do believe everyone has to make that choice for themselves, and I respect whatever that choice is. I do know that many, many people die every day waiting for a transplant, and that is a shame.

Yes, I am an organ donor.
Also my hubby got a new kidney and pancreas transplant in 1990 and no longer a diabetic. Both of his kidneys failed in 1989 and was on home dialysis for 1 year before he got his new organs and also worked a full time job during that time.
He is doing great now and no longer a diabetic.

I have. I personally don't care what they do with my carcass when I'm done with it - but if I can help another person in any way, I want to. It would be my last Act of Kindness.
If you haven't signed up, please think about it, and talk with your family members about it for themselves too.
