    Peg, Yes it really does work but 90 %of the time I do not have ice cubes, but our water is realy cold.
    I have doen this for years...

    It looks like a good idea, if you peel potatoes.

    But I also haven't peeled them in years. I leave the skin on for mashed potatoes and for potato salad. Much easier, and much more nutritious. Why throw out something that is so good for you?

    i have been doing that for years when i make home made potato salad never thought to use it when i make mashed potatos though have to try it

    That is really cool. I have used that method for peeling tomatoes & peaches for canning but never thought of it for potatoes. Thanks for the tip!
