We are about 25 miles from the coast but what we worry abut is rain before the wind. We had a flood last Aug due to rain and poor drainage. What a mess. It came in over the the foundation. Our flood insurance agent said we had 8 inches. It took almost a year to get everything back to normal.I worry about the wind coming. We have woods behind us and the trees are really tall. They will surely come down on the roof if it's in the right direction. But we will stay here. We have too many pets and I'm certainly not going to leave any of them.Everybody closr to the coast please be caireful. I am already doing a little don't come to close dance.

Hope all will be safe. In Maine the surfers are hoping for the big waves!

The front that is over Chicago last night and this morning is the one that is supposed to keep Earl away....but it doesn't seem to be moving enough...

We'll have to wait until tomorrow or Saturday to see whether or not it will head this way. It will depend on when Earl makes his turn north - he may head west of us up the west coast of the province and into Labrador. Usually by the time the hurricanes get here they have blown themselves out and we just get a very windy day.

I'm ready if it gets closer. Gas for the generator, food, plenty of hand sewing to keep me busy.

I am so glad to hear that!! Every year people wait till the last minute and then it could be too late! Katrina is a perfect example of that! The old adage"Better safe then sorry" certainly applies here!
