There is a quilt show around here where they also feature antique tractors. Now, thats entertainment for the guys too. My DH likes to look at guns, knives and tractors! He doesn't mind the quilts either...

I would say Great Idea if it was sewing and trains. My husband is into trains. We go to all sorts of Train swap meets. I would love to see some sewing/quilting for all the ladies.

What a perfect idea! If you think about it, the american flag (all nations really) are patchwork or applique - no? Also, in many countries, a soldier carried a small memory "quilt" that his mother would make for him. My husband is a historian and military gun/technology enthusiast. This would be a fantastic idea for say Virginia or Boston - perhaps around Worcester, MA where there is a gun museum.

Great Idea. I often thought the Bass Pro Shops should put a quilt shop or at least Joannes next door.

I think it's a wonderful idea. Not just because "there will be something for DH to do" line of thinking, but I believe that people would be attracted to your shop because of the times we now live in.
Lots of folks now appreciate the "simpler times" and wish we could bring some of that back. Quilting, sewing, hunting, fishing, gardening and cooking were everyday ways. Sadly that way of life is gone and these skills are now considered hobbies.
So give it a go. Brilliant idea!

FYI - Husqvarna initally made muskets before they started making sewing machines. Isn't it strange the way our minds work? :)
