You're welcome to come and share my snow...... you can help me dig out of 2 ft. (so far) of snow. It does look lovely though and I'm lucky to be retired and I don't have to go anywhere. I'll start a fire, have a beer and work on some UFOs....... and worry about digging out tomorrow (call me Scarlett).

Here's a picture of our driveway, taken from inside. My SIL next door can't even get her front door open to reach the snow shovel... it's going to be a L-o-o-o-o-n-g day of shoveling.

Sorry for those who lost power.
It isn't snowing here, but it's blowing.
Everything blows towards my front door - mine alone, not the people on either side of me, for some reason. I'm in a townhouse-style apartment with a front door under an overhang, the sidewalk just beyond that, and my parking space directly in front of the door on the other side of the sidewalk. The drift in front of my car is taller than I am! (I'm 5'2".) It's chest high on either side.
Somehow the maintenance guys got here and plowed a narrow path down the sidewalk, I guess so we can visit the neighbors. Can't drive - there's over a foot of snow in the parking lot. Though my neighbor next door got his SUV out and went to work.
Anyway, as I said, it all blows towards my entrance. I had to walk down the plowed sidewalk to the parking space of the guy next door, where it only came to mid-calf height in order to get past my drifts. The sides of my car had almost no snow on them - it had all blown towards the front. I cleaned off the back and sides, couldn't even reach the front hood for the drifts.
I'll go back out later, once my legs warm up again and get some more of the front. By the time I'd finished one side, the other was covered in a layer of blowing snow - but it's only a layer, not a foot of the stuff.

WOW, I feel for you guys! I remember the big snow on valentine's day in 06, I think it was, where I couldn't get out of the house because the snow was past the door. But I don't think we got quite as much then as you're getting now. I loved the pics! I can't believe the car pics where you can't even see the car at all.

I'm afraid my snowy weekend projects will be snow shoveling... I'm organist at my church, and so far it hasn't been canceled yet for tomorrow. I may need to get out to go to church tomorrow..
And now the wind is starting to blow again, so all the huge pine trees are losing all their snow. It looks like another storm out there!!

Bring your shovel and get up here. We have a spare room and an extra sewing machine in the sewing room.
We have about 15" and unable to get onto the street. The last I heard the plow was at 3 a.m. and nothing since. DH dug out the driveway twice. Fortunately, it is not snowing now, but we are expecting more.
We used to live in DC and they really got hit. While we lived there, they closed school on the threat of snow. Wonder how they are doing now. Fortunately, they won't have to contend with Marion Barry to clean the streets. He did a miserable job when we lived there.
I guess we should be thankful that the fallout was snow and not rain as you river is still very high from previous days of rain. It really is pretty outside. The pine trees are gorgeous.

Hi! I have a daughter who teaches in Fairfax, VA, right outside of DC. Just talked with her online, and they have between 24-30" in the suburbs, and 6-8" more expected by 9 tonight, when it's supposed to stop. The above-ground Metro isn't running. She had 4 snow days last week..she said she'd probably be teaching till July to make up all those days..

It quit snowing around noon and the sun came out--it's really pretty. Final measurement: 22 inches. We were outside all afternoon snowblowing the walks and cleaning the cars; all the neighbors were helping each other and a bunch of Geneva College students from the nearby dorm were helping, too. Actually had fun. Still can't go anywhere-street's not plowed or salted. And now they're saying more for Wednesday!! Snow is a four-letter word!!
