Maybe not so slowly.
I am saving up for a new sewing machine. My friend knew this and called me. She asked, "How would you like to make $500?"
I said I'd love it, what's the catch?
I am now in the middle of a week of babysitting her 6 kids. She went along on a business trip to Amsterdam with her husband.
We have had a few episodes with yelling, slamming doors, throwing things, hitting.....none of it by me. Well, I have done a little yelling while those things were going on.
I am truly dreading the weekend when they will all be home from school.
Please pray for me!!

OH Pam I feel for you. If the weather is good can you take them on an outing outdoors. The fresh air and exercise could wear the kids out. Maybe a friend could go with you to help out. Good luck.

Try to get them intereted in making cookies. I know my grandchildren need to be busy all the time when I baby sit them. I take my fabric along and we make little wall hangings or other small fun things. Remenber they are lonesome for their parents to. Wish you luck. Keep thinking about your $500.

Sit them all down and establish some house rules!
If there are that many kids, and in school, they are absolutely old enough to know that there are "walls" which they can not, may not, breech. Just because their mother isn't there does not mean chaos will reign. YOU are the adult here, don't let them run rough shod over you. If you set rules, enforce them, and still show interest and respect to the kids as kids -- look for fun things to do, etc. - then you can expect, even demand their co-operation.
Best of luck to you. Sometimes the pay is NOT worth it!

Oh I FEEL for you! I agreed to watch a friends 2 kids, so they could spend 3 days on a Valentines retreat. That meant 6 kids in my house. By sunday evening I was ready for my own retreat. NEVER AGAIN.
Find a quiet spot, scream into a pillow. then repeat $500 over and over like raedar63 said!
