You're lucky she didn't lock those doors and take the keys and hide them on you. That would probably hurt you more

I was raised with one of those instruments of torture, and remember how it ruined my Grandma's already arthritic knuckles.
I also remember how it would grate against my own knuckles when I was forced to help do the washing out back.
Today I LOVE my washer and drier. Was talking to cousins recently and we were discussing what we liked about today's household machines. The ones that we absolutely would hate to get rid of first, last or at all is our washer, drying we could put up with outdoors or even on inside lines, but that washer IS kING!!

My mother used to have a very small one of those that was used for lingerie. When I was married I took it with me a few times when we were camping in primitive campsites near streams. It was a God-send then as it kept us in clean clothes. It works as well as I do, but I'd rather have my newest and latest and I don't even have to bend over to load or unload. My knuckles still work; my back doesn't.

I paid a whopping $4.95 at the thrift store for it and it is hanging on the wall of my studio right now. I have all sorts of vintage and antique sewing and sewing related things in my studio decorating it along with my 21 machines I have in there. It just adds to the whole time warp feeling when your quilting in there.
