I too have done family geneolgy. In touring a cemetery-- my DH tells people that we visit dead relatives!-- we found a woman buried next to his grandpa. This man died in the 1960's. grandma died 1930's. The woman we found in the cemetery was his second wife!! My husband never knew he was married again, the cousin with us said,"that's just as well, we don't talk about her." Maybe in your case the second marrage was taboo to talk about also. Congratulations on finding new family.

that is great. defintily a resemblence. because of the computer these days my dh's half brother found him after 36 years. and my bio family found me when i was 42 years old. it was the strangest feeling having someone look like ones self. how do people get used to that?? i never resembled anyone before. seeing my sister was like a skinny me looking back. sooo strange. guess most people don't think about that lol

At a previous job, I had a volunteer that would come in and help out on a regular basis. We became best friends. After several months, while out delivering newsletters, a truck stopped and we both started talking to the occupants. After the truck left, we both said at the same time: How do you know them? From me: Well, the lady was my mom's cousin that was married to the man, my dad's cousin. From her: The lady was her mom, the man her step-dad. We are still best friends 10 years later.
