    They would not be the same if baked. Frying with butter will burn the butter, I only fry with canola oil. I use vegetable shortening when making pie crust.

    Oh, I'm so glad everyone is enjoying them. Thanks for the positive review.I added to my post later that I left out the cinnamon. And they are great with any other flavor too.

    Sorry to hijack your post Goodluna. But yes btiny36, you can use lard, I would just use less. Lard is from an animal, shortning is from vegetables.

    Trolleystation, yes, these may be baked at 350 degrees ,just turn so that both sides are browned.

    I have to tell of my fried apple adventure. I used grands biscuits and canned apples(from what I hear that is all wrong) I rolled the biscuits thin and filled then dropped them in deepfryer (another thing I did wrong) they look like they were just about ready when they would expload and I would have deep fried apples and a fried biscuit puff. DH said they were alright but I guess I have to practice again
