I'm with you. But my dogs like to chase them and eat them. Strange dogs.

I went into a store last fall that had a baggie of water hanging above the door...was supposed to be to discourage flies, and when I asked about it, the lady told me that she'd tried everything, lot of farms in that area, and this was the only thing that worked, short of bug spray! I walked away shaking my head, but there's wasn't one fly in that store, and the door was open!

Charlee -

I was just going to suggest that. We raise chickens and have tons of flies. We hang a bag of water over each door and have hardly no flies. just get a ziplock sandwich bag and fill half full with water and zip closed working out the excess air. then get binder clips and clip to the bag and hang over your door. I don't know why it works but it does.

I tried those bags of water last year and it didn't faze the flies here. I was hoping it would work too!

I heard about that on the radio. Some guy was saying that to the flies, their own reflection in the bag looks like a predator. I have not done it, but I am going to put one out today.

We used to have terrible flies. I always just thought it was because we lived in the country, and had chickens, steers and sheep. Eventually we got rid of all of our animals, except the flies. There was one of those big chicken houses across the fields from us and when they went out of business, we didn't have flies. Turns out the second owners of the business did not keep up with fly maintenance.

My cousin-in-law used this and it worked for her. She kept her porch light on and hung it just below the light. She said the flies can see their reflection with the light on.

Windex. Works like a charm. You can spray them right out of the air.
