Today my Dad called me. After giving me the eyeroll when I told him I got a Costco membership again, he asked me to price hearing aid batteries. He had "heard" that they were less expensive at Costco. We're in SW Ontario Canada, so these were the prices.
At the local "Chain store" pharmacy - 40 batteries for approx $40
    At Costco, - 30 batteries for $10.49.
I was shocked! Now I'm going to tell everyone I know! And the kicker is - you don't have to be a member to use their pharmacy!
I know I switched my prescriptions over because they would save me about $50/month, but now I'm sold!
No, I don't work for Costco. And when I was single, without child, I didn't find it a bargain. But life has changed, and so has my perspective.

My husband was finally told he needed hearing aids. The ones our HMO "suggested" he get were $4,000 to $8,000. They would not pay for the hearing aids as it was not part of our coverage. We did a lot of research for a better price. The best price for the best product was COSTCO. The hearing specialist were wonderful. Top of the line was $1,999.99. My husband is extremely pleased with how they work. He has the option of batteries or they also gave him a charger. When he takes them off at night he just puts them in the charger and they are ready for the next day.

Dad's are the new 'high tech' ones too. They also cost him thousands of $ but his insurance did cover them. His favourite joke is : "they even come with a remote control, my wife keeps it in her purse!" And it's true!
