Or how about this one? http://sacramento.craigslist.org/atq/2494674534.html
I just sent her an e-mail and gently let her know that whoever told her that it was worth up to $1500 doesn't know what they're talking about and that if she needs cash fast she'd may want to rethink her ad. I've seen these sit and sit for $100 and maybe sell in the $50-$75 range! Yikes.

I check the Craigslist in our area every day, checking for sewing machines. One has been on there quite a while. It was a Singer treadle and started out at $400, then dropped to $350,$300, etc. to finally just make an offer. It either sold or they gave up because I haven't seen the listing in a while.
It amazes me that people think they will get mega-bucks for an old, worn out machine with cabinets in such sad shape. Maybe they see the small featherweights going for such high prices and think because it has a cabinet, it must be worth lots more.

Here is an example that I showed to DH. I wonder if they sold it or not.

These advertisers see "antique" only and they don't consider the category of antique. They have a 'glorification of the Roadshow' mentality, poor deluded things.
