    now my crazy brain won't let me remember the name of it it grew tall and had many little frond like leaves anyone know the name it won't come to me no matter what I do and my patch seems to have disappeared

    Go to your local library and check out the books of Jerry Baker. He does a lot of (Gardening) things the natural way. May be he has your remedy in it too.

    I think SIL grows it too for that. Does it have a yellow flower?

    I plant tansy but these work as well - bay leaves, basil, oregano, sage, rosemary, cloves and cinnamon.

    Wipe everything down with plain white vinegar, ants hate that smell.

    I use white vingar it works like a charm.
