How about an on going type sale of Granny Baby sitters for rent? You could pool all the ladies together and make up a list of the numbers and the days they are available. Then advertise in a local give-away paper.
Or how about a sewing class that is a set price per class but the class is every week. I know at first the class may be small but it will grow if you make it fun! Or cooking classes if you can use that nice kitchen. The receipe cards as a hand out.
Don't under rate services as a sellable item.

All these sound good. And the Granny Baby Sitters of ladies who have been there and done that, and are well known enough to leave your precious children with. It could be called "PARENTS' NIGHT OUT" events.

Did anybody mention the "cake walk" ? A combination of bake sale items and musical chairs.
Maybe some body knows the finer details, it has been so long ago for me to remember too much about it.

Now those are good ideas. May use them for a 4-H fundraiser. Thanks!

How about a Sr. Citizen's Prom?

My oldest son had his high school senior class put one one for a community project and his classmates were absolutely amazed at how much fun the Senior Citizens had. The high school students also really loved the music of the 50's. They also made sure to serve punch and cookies. We had a ball!
They sent the invitation out to the entire community and I believe the "ticket" was $5.00 a person. The money went to a community center I believe.

I put on a trivia night, which was enjoyed by all.Prizes were donations, bottles of wine and chocolates - doesn't have to cost much.
Armchair travel nights - interesting info about other places, not boring slide shows.
getting interesting people to come along and display and speak about their hobbies.
Have a information night where you get different organisations to come with pamphlets and info about what they have to offer to seniors- they don't all have to be commercial groups - they could be hobby groups or activity groups.

Our center holds a Rummage Sale (all iteams donated), and BBQ lunch ($5.00 per plate). At the same time out in front they have a Plant Sale also. The center collects iteams for a month, then spends about two weeks getting set up. Each room in the center has different iteams ie: Mens items, Womens iteams, Outdoor iteams, Household iteams (this is always the largest room), Baked goods, etc... This is a two day event (Fri & Sat). On Sat they always have an auction ie: Quilts and iteams donated from Business in the area. Good Luck

how about a Mystery Dinner, You sell bags at different prices, each bag comes with just one pieces of table ware to eat thier meal. you put different pieces in to bags, just like a grab bag. no one knows what they are getting for the price on the bag. then they buy bags until they get every thing they need to eat the meal. lets say 10.00 gets them a plate or cup . 2 dollors may get them a spoon or a knife just load the bags and then seal and price them that is the best way so know one knows what they are getting. yes they may get 2 or 3 of the same things but that is up to them to trade or resell. then you sell them the other stuff they need, it can be a fun dinner. and raise some money

Have a Dinner with a mystery, show, check if you have a drama club in the area that would be interested in putting on the show, make it a family night.
Casino nites, with a Flat donation/buy in and trade chips for tickets, and draw the winners prize.

But we have much competition: :( Our local schools and comunity theater have talent shows, all six churches hold yard sales and craft fairs, our library raffels off quilts and other items and has luncheons with speakers, our garden club has plant sales,we tried game night including trivia and bombed, our local Humane Society has photos with your pets and our local wineries all have tasting parties, our highschool has many suppers and sells everything from wrapping paper to candy bars. So we are saturated with fund raising activities here.
Maybe we should have a Talk-A-Thon where we talk non-stop til someone gives us money as we are very good at talking! Ha Ha anyway thanks for your ideas and keep thinking :)
Okay, I brought all your great ideas to the board meeting and they said "The churches, library, garden clubs, schools, etc. already do those things" and "Nope, too much trouble", and "No that won't work", and "We don't do that", and "Tried that and it failed",and "Don't think thats any good" and "Never heard of such nonsence" and finally "We thought you were going to get us some new ideas?" Ahhhhhhhh! Well, anyway I tried and thanks again.

Sounds like they don't WANT to do anything, except perhaps have some rich, dumb person write them a big check to use for whatever THEY want.
You did try, and got ideas from all over and not only in your own town. Now go get a big cup of coffee and a cookie and lie back in a comfy chair and brood on this awhile. Then go sew sew sew.
