I'm sorry to hear about your neighbor's son. I think I have heard of that before.
You can quilt, just take one day at a time, if you mess up and smoke too much one day, it just means that the next day is a new day and you don't have to repeat the day before!!!

OOH DEAR!! I am so sorry to hear about your neighbor's son. My thoughts and prayers go out to the family during their time of grief.
Now about your quitting smoking....You CAN do it!! I quit just last Monday after smoking for 37 years. I have had ENOUGH!! That nicodemon will NOT ruin or run my life anymore. I'm on the patch and it's working great!
I started weaning myself off a bit at a time before my actual quit date.
If you go to http://www.quitnet.com you can get alot of help and support anytime of the day or night.
My thoughts and prayers are with you but I know you CAN do it!!!

Think of the wonderfuil things you are doing for yourself, and for your kids and grandkids too. Getting all that nasty smoke out of your body and your house. My Dad and brother died of lung cancer, you can do this and your familly will be so happy to have you around for so much longer!

How about start a fabric stash jar. Every time you want a cig put the money in a jar that is marked fabric. That way you will see your "STASH" grow. Good luck. It is a very hard thing you are doing, but will be worth the effort!

Good luck, Rebecca. I, too, was a smoker for over 25 years. The day came when I thought I was having a heart attack (terrible chest pains). I was at work, and they insisted on taking me to my doctor to be sure. I actually went to the break room and smoked a cigarette before going! I still remember my last cigarette was at 9:45 AM, January 20, 2000. It turned out it wasn't a heart attack, just my "warning", as the doctor said. My cardiologist said he would be my doctor if I quit smoking for good. If not, don't come see him again. I really liked him and knew he was a good doctor, so I quit. My medical doctor prescribed a mild antidepressant, which under another name was used to help stop smoking, but the insurance wouldn't cover the anti-smoking one. I took that for about a year.
Still don't smoke, and I realize now how bad everyone smells who has been smoking. I'm embarrassed that I once smelled like that.
I worked at a trucking terminal, so everyone smoked in the break room/lunch room. I had to stop going in there for about 3 months, until I was over the hump. There are days when I would still love to have a cigarette, but trying just one more puff isn't worth risking being smoke-free.
Drop me a line if you get discouraged. I've been there!! But it's sure nice on the "other side".
