and wondered if ya'll have any recommendations. I can't spend a great deal of money and it needs to be small. My sewing room is about 10 by 10. I really don't know why I haven't already done this considering the 'dust' all this fabric gives off and my lung issues! Advise will be greatly appreciated.

There are many machines out on the market. Check the box to see what size room it will clean. Also check prices on the replacement filters. Both of these things will vary on these machines
There are also ones that use ionization, and you just have to clean the fins, but these are usually more expensive.

The asthma specialist I see told me one of the cheapest and most efficient air cleaners is a box fan with a 3M Filtrete filters (the higher the rating, the better the filtering) covering the air intake side. Just tape it over the back of the fan to seal it down. It really works well. Be prepared to see nasty black for the first couple days it runs. We've had really good luck with these adapted fans. We use them during the worst of our asthma seasons. It isn't the quietest thing around but very effective.

    Pros:
    Low Cost
    Easy to find filters
    Easy to find box fan

    Con:
Noisier than most "air cleaners" (but at a fraction of the cost)
Works best if in a doorway or middle of the room to maximize airflow
