IMPORTANT: Your quilting blog posts may be being pirated!
If you have a quilting blog, you will definitely want to check out this article by Bitchy Stitcher:
http://thebitchystitcher.blogspot.co...t-writing.html
It looks like the site quiltpatternspro.com has been stealing blog posts and posting them as their own! Bitchy Stitcher is trying to get everyone to check for poaching and report them to Go Daddy (the site's host company). My blog partner, Peggi (Peckish on this board), has found several of our blog posts there, and we will be reporting them, too. In fact, from the looks of it, ALL their blog posts are stolen from other quilting blogs, and yours may be one of them! You can check for stolen posts by putting your blog name in their search box. Help spread the word so we can get their site shut down! Why do people have to be so awful???

A lot of bloggers have gone to truncated posts for this reason. I don't know if those can still be pirated but I think it makes it more difficult. As the song goes.." Why do people have to be so mean!"

I just went and looked. While I don't have a blog I wanted to see how blatant they are being. It certainly does appear that there is not one shred of original content on that site. I hope GoDaddy does right by all the original bloggers, But I am wondering if the quiltpatterns site is going to get away with it because they do put in very teeny tiny print the author of all the postings, as a byline of the title to each post. However to not ask permission to do it and blatantly cut and paste it like that without even providing a direct link to the original source, unbelievable! Nothing burns my bacon more than people who try to claim another person's work and creative content as their own.

As feline said "it really burns my bacon"! and chaps my butt when this kind of thing goes on. I'm not sure how much can be done . I do hope bloggers have a copyright on there blog pages that would be a starting place. When I created my web site the first thing the web site creator discussed with me was copyrighting .

I find it very strange. I saw several familiar bloggers' posts on the site. But what struck me is that there doesn't seem to be any benefit to whomever is hosting that blog...no profile, no ads, nothing. It just doesn't make sense...

If it was a blog aggregator, that would be one thing. (A blog aggregator is a site that gathers blog posts from all over the net into one place, such as Quilterblogs.com.) But blog aggregators do not change anything about the posts, including the name of the blogger, and they also link back to the original content.
Tartan - you are correct; the first thing I did was truncate our posts. And I'm so glad I've been copyrighting our photos.... a smart reader will see our blog address in every single photo and wonder why she's finding them on an unrelated site with a completely different address....

And as an FYI - if you go to a site that has doesn't have anywhere to comment on a post, or you see no way to contact them, you can be pretty sure it's a nefarious site! It burns us that someone is making money from OUR posts. Bonnie Hunter said she's also been pirated, but hers are showing up truncated, so even though we can truncate the posts, they can still be pirated by another site.....
