Ironing is no longer an essential in my house. I have passed the 3/4 Century mark and my time is too valuable, let alone the fact that my years are now on "run down" and every spare moment I have is spent in my sewing room making quilts for those who "know" all too well that their time is more limited than mine. People with AIDS don't always have a lot of options and now that some states are limited funding for their medication, I suspect their lives will not be improved. My quilts bring a spot of Joy into their lives (or so I am told) so who cares about ironing when you can help make someone's day a bit brighter?
Ironing is just one more BAD HABIT i don't need!

June I couldnīt have said it better. Thats how I feel, there are much more important things in life to do than ironing. I(f you think that spending 1hr or so standing their ironing is great than fine by me just donīt expect me to do it.

I haven't liked any of the sheets from recent years and would dearly love to find some percales again. Do they still sell them where you are? I'd come to Spain just to buy some!

Iron sheets? Do people still do that?
My Grandma used to iron even my feed sack panties and bought socks. Now I iron only when I have something mostly cotton, and take very good care of the stuff as it comes from the dryer. I hang clothing up as soon as it comes out hot, shake it like mad and hang. Hopefully, I don't have to iron more than an hour a week..of course that does not include fabric for quilts!

Probably right on the spelling. I bought the last lost of sheets in the UK. Havenīt seen any here in Spain. Perhaps we should google and see if they still make them. they were the best invention ever.
In the winter theycome out of the dryer perfect. In the summer I just give them a good shake and smooth them out on the line
Elle - going to investigate. :-D

Nothing like the line dried sheets of my childhood. Now we use sheets that "don't need ironing" but we put the blue dyer balls in the dryer and they do a great job of keeping the sheets untangled. If the sheets aren't stuffed in all at once, they come out really nicely dried and warm, ready for a quick, accurate fold. The stacking in the closet gives thema pressing.
