Well today is my weigh in day at WW but it was cancelled. We had an ice storm over night. There is about 1/2 inch of ice covering everything. The roads are still a mess. I was also supposed to take my mom to the mall today but I doubt we will go. This is our first storm this winter. The weather has been really weird. It was 10 yesterday morning, tomorrow it is supposed to be 50 or 55. It has been up and down like this all winter, more than usual. I also need to go to the grocery but will see what it looks like later. We are out of fresh fruits and vegetables. I guess I will have to stay home and sew all day.

We are missing some, where are you all hiding???? LOL

    What is everyone up too??

Today I was able to go 16 minutes on the elipitcal, was winded and felt great afterwards. I am doing so much better than I thought. the pounds are staying within about 3 +/- my starting weight but I have lost inches and have noticed that Lucy is losing her perch on my stomach. I told mom tonight that I no longer feel 9 months pregnant when i look down, maybe look 6 months pregnant..............which I am not pregnant at all.

Work has been going good, it is great to have a company willing to work with you when you need to start back slowly. I am hoping to make it 8 hours on Saturday and Sunday. I will be wise and not over do. Lung cancer will not keep me down, nor will losing a lung.

I am in control and losing inches and lbs.
Thank You Cindy.I weighed myself and have lost 2 lbs.I'm so excited.I have a stationary bike and did 5 miles yesterday. Everyone have a good day. Mary

meanmom- be wise if you do decide to go out today. We want you to be safe and sound. Staying home and sewing sounds like a great plan. I wish I was doing that today instead of working.

Keep up the good work Mary.

Back to work, have 3 more hours to go today.

Good afternoon, y'all. I have a new quilting dilemna. Don't you just love being my sounding board? I've decided the pattern I chose for the red quilt for my oldest daughter isn't right for the fabric I have and my budget won't allow the purchase of enough batiks right now. I have a quilt on my design wall right now that I just love. A simple Snowball and Nine Patch. When she was here Tuesday, she liked it, too. I really want a quit with a circular feeling as her life as had too many sharp points in the last few years. Losing her husband to a nasty disease and then the only house they ever lived in burning five months later was too much. The question - is this too simple a patten for a birthday quilt for my precious first born daughter? Her mantra in rebuilding has been '"Simple is better". This certainly fits that genre. The other problem is that the best match fo the center of the 9 patch is an olive green print and she hates that color, but I'll decide on that alone. Any thoughts?

My weight is stuck so I need to work a little harder on that, too. It may be all connected. Our brains and bodies are not separate entities. When one is confused then the other is, too. I think I'll run down to the the LQS and see if I can a green batik that matches, but isn't so olive because she loves batiks. 1/4 yard won't break the bank. They close early today, so I'd better scoot.

Thank you for being such good listeners. Judy

Good Morning all- I guess it is almost afternoon though! I've made a bit more progress in the weight loss this week. I am down another 1.5 lbs. I'll take it! I only did 2 days (4 miles total) on the treadmill this week becuase I felt so lousy.

Judy, I think the snowball/9 patch sounds perfect especially since your daughter likes it too. I love that pattern- simple, but makes a beautiful, interesting quilt.

Weekends are tough for me eating wise. We always seem to have a lot of stuff going on. Going to a party tonight & there will be much eating & drinking so I have to stay focused! Next week we are camping @ the beach on Thurs & Fri, come home on Sat then on Sun go to Vegas for 3 nights. Those events combined make for a lot of food temptations so I'll just have to get more walking in.

Maggiemae, last summer I went to my daughters for a bbq. Same can be done for camping. But I made veggie packs wrapped in foil then cook on the grill really tasty. Add some bbq chicken or fish whatever and you have a good meal, take fruit and yogert for dessert. You can do it. Got my fingers crossed for you. Mary

I haven't weighed this week. I have been doing good up until the last few days. I've been busy and skipped meals. I was down 9 pounds but not eating has probably put the brakes on my weight loss. I have got to get back on track!

I love olive green, but my daughter doesn't. I picked up two brighter yellowish greens this afternoon. I will check them in natural light in the morning. The quilt store has flourescent lights and I didn't feel like carrying the bolts up some stairs to a door. I have done that. I cut my first strips and squares, then scrapped them. I think I want the blocks a little bigger than those would have been. I can use the strips in the border. I know she likes piano key borders. I don't have to make 96 Flying Geese for this one. Yippee. It feels good to be starting the one that has been bugging me. Another yippee. No, Mary, I did not run to the shop. I never was a runner, just a big time walker, but those days are gone. Now I'm a medium walker.

You are all doing so well with your January weight loss. Good for you. I have 10 days to catch up. I can do it.

Question: What can you say,"Yay for me" for today?" We need to ask ourselves that everyday. You don't have to answer here, but do think about it. We need to be our own best cheerleader.
