Dah! Guess this was the page I missed reading - Okay I'm in for the next 3 months and the FQs will be out the door tomorrow!

    My tip:
Drink lots of water wright EVERYTHING down that goes into the mouth think - think - think am I hungry - or is this a habit. Eat balanced meals - learn what a portion size is - be honest with yourself. I'm past 60 and have lost 27 lbs since Oct 10, 2012 Don't buy into the ads that tell you just because you are over 40 that it's hopless unless you "do" their plan. Today is the first day that I went on a half hr walk so the 27 off was sitting at my sewing machine. I have asthma and if the temperature out side is below 60 or it's too humid I don't go out cause cold air and high humidity are triggers for me.

Yes, I think we would all love to hear what has worked for us. Hope everyone joines in. My best to each of you - Linda

i'm in again. need to get back on track. i didn't lose anything in dec. i'm suppose to be cutting 108 4.5" squares out of scraps. getting down to the nitty gritty. i'm such a thrifty sewer, it was hard to come up with scraps that big. had to just bite the bullet and cut some off the shelf. just 5 more to go.
this is a mystery quilt here on the board. anyone doing it besides irish, and I?
    what's everyone else working on?

I am doing the scrappy mystery quilt too. I am also working on a wall hanging for my daughter's nursery. I am ready to press the appliqué pieces on, then I will sandwich and quilt as I stitch down the appliqués. Here it is - a WIP.

Sewnso I am doing the Mystery quilt too. I have my 108 squares all sewn. I am not a scrappy quilter and I had a hard time forcing myself to sew some of the colors together. Some of the colors are really weird. I also forced myself to use no batiks.(I am hooked on batiks). I was sure it would look awful, but it looks fine. I still need to post pictures.
I am going to have to work really hard this month. We have a huge group. I sure could use all of the FQ. I will have to get my lazy butt out of bed and get some exercise tomorrow. Welcome everyone. Good luck to everyone and healthy eating.

I am excited about doing this with Painiacs My bud!!! Shes going to keep me in line and I'm going to keep her in line. And since were both visually handicapped....this ought to be fun because I don't think either one of us can walk a straight line. I KNOW that I can't. ))
Losing weight for me has been a very very hard struggle since I was diagnosed as being a type 2 diabetic insulin dependent. Just recently I have been getting for me "alot of exercising" mainly walking using my rollator which is a fancy looking walker with wheels and a seat because I have alot of balance problems. On bad weather days, I try to walk up and down our 2 flights of stairs for 30 minutes at a time. And that is not including how many times I have to go upstairs to use the bathroom. My goal for 2013 is to lose AT LEAST 150 pounds. I know that it is going to be hard but I am going to give it my best shot. Even if I only lose 2-3 pounds its worth it. I weighed myself yesterday and I won't say how much I weigh. I did have my husband put my scale out in the store room and lock the door and told him not to bring it out until January 31 that way I won't HAVE to check to see how much I have lost or gained so that I won't be discouraged.
So for everyone that is participating in this.. Good Luck to you.

Oh one thing that I also do for exercise on days the weather is bad or good is this....

We will drive to town and go to Walmart or Fred Meyers (Krogers in the East) but I will get a grocery cart, start at the first isle...and push the cart down that isle....at a fairly fast pace and I will glance for HEAVY ITEMS...like 25 pounds of dog food, potting soil ANYTHING that has weight to it....I have even actually filled a cart up with canned goods Anything that will put lots of weight in the cart and then I will push that heavy cart up and down EACH ISLE at a fast walking pace as I can while pushing and on the second or third TRIP around the entire store...I will RETURN all of the items that I loaded into my cart back onto the shelves in the same neat way that I removed them. You would be surprised at how much work this is and you stay warm and dry in the process.

i love seeing this, we all need to have a partner in crime that we can help .......... but then again this group has been great for me over the last 18 months since I have joined and then when I took over as the hostess of this thread.

It is awesome that we can encourage one another ...... and help one another out with tips and challenges.

    Have a great day
