This thread reminds me of my grandmother's favorite quote: "If the dishwasher breaks down, slap him!"

Husbands just don't realize all the thoughtful little things we do for them!!!
I agree and a perfect example of that is part 2 of the duster story. DH is now nicely recovering from open heart surgery of this past winter; he came close to dying several times, but is now well enough to be antsy to get outside and play with his manly toys, such as tractor, tiller, mower, etc., but it is not to be yet - maybe next year. For now, he must stay out of the hot sun and not overdo, so I suggested that he could & should (with his new supply of dusters) become the official dusting person here, so he wouldn't feel useless & bored.

Huh! He would have hated my thoughtful idea, if he had bothered to take it seriously! Go figure!

I have an extra bedroom that I use for a sewing room or as my grandson calls it - my "clubhouse". I actually sew at the dining room table and we use the family room all the time. My sewing room is actually storage for fabric, etc. So, when I recently got a new sofa and chair, I decided to swap the living room and dining room. It was always so hard to squeeze between the buffet, china cabinet and the table when having family dinners. Now the table is in front of floor-to-ceiling windows with plantation shutters and lots of light for sewing. I call the new room my sitting room. The kitchen is between the "sitting room" and the family room so I don't miss much. I wish I had done it long ago. BTW, I gave the old sleeper sofa and chair to a group that furnishes apts for refugees.

I understand the concept of cooking and cleaning,
just not as it applies to me.

I read recipes the same way I read science fiction -
I get to the end and think ........
    Well, that's not gonna happen!

I find it helps to categorize my chores:
    Things I won't do now.
    Things I won't do later.
    Things I'll never do.

There should be support groups for women who can't put their dishes in the dishwasher dirty.

Maxine taught me this lifestyle and I thank her for it!
