Ask your physician about 'Factor five Leiden'. It is an inherited factor in the blood that causes clotting. My husband has it and suffered blood clots to the lungs time after time. He was finallly put on Coumadin and has been now for 47 yrs with no more clots. My daughter had two miscarriages due to the clotting in the umbilical cord. She now takes a regular aspirin every day. The other daughter has it also but so far - no problems. When you start back sewing, take breaks frequently and walk around so blood doesn't have time to clot. Being on Coumadin long term is not that hard you just have to be aware of interactions with other medicines and follow instruction.

Glad to have still with us. Enjoy your time, and rest when you need to. My Mom was on Warfarin most of her life, she didn't have a big problem with it, she just had to keep track of the numbers and adjust the medications as the doctor told her to.
