Kindle Fire
I have had my Fire for a whole year and still do not know if I can listen to music without using my data! I know it would have to be downloaded and that would use data, but I do not want to use data every time I listen to music. Help please?

I don't have a Kindle Fire but do have a different tablet. Yes, you would need to use data to download your music and then should be able to listen to it from the tablet free-standing. Once downloaded, as Onebyone says, turn OFF your wifi/data/wireless in the settings menu and you should be good to rock out with your music. Hope that works for you.

Dianne, As far as I understand it, you can listen to up to 250 songs that you have downloaded from Amazon's digital music store without it affecting your storage capacity, but I believe you need a wireless connection. And if you want more space, you can buy a plan that allows you to have up to 250,000 songs. Furthermore, if you have an Amazon Prime account, you can stream music to your Fire (in the same way as you would stream Netflix), but you have to have a wireless connection.
Also, you can download the Pandora app, set up an account and listen to music for free (but you have to tolerate their ads.) And there are other free music apps available as well. I hope this helps. Sharon

Downloading will use up you data if you are on a data plan. After downloading you don't use data to listen or watch unless you are steaming the music or video. Streaming uses data. Many have a set amount of data on their wi fi plan and it if goes over the amount then high prices are added to their bill, just like the phone data plans.
