Am very curious of these little gadgets and have read there is kindle 1 and 2 now...do you know anything about these..from you having one to hearing a friend talk about it. I'm not sure we won't feel like we'll be holding something that cost a bunch and the rest of the circut left us (Like our VCR):)They sound impressive...so any input would be great...Skeat who usually appreciates the page turning as much as the other:)

My DD travels a lot and I was going to get her a Kindle for Christmas. She said she uses her Iphone for books and has the Kindle app on her phone. She loves it. I think the Iphone screen is too small for me and I want the Kindle. Books are rarely over $10 for the Kindle. I'm thinking of getting DH one too. He reads a lot. I'll get version 1 for us both. The version 2 is double the price but better for reading newspapers and magazines and has double the storage. There is a good video about Kindle on Amazon.

Our daughter wants one desperately .. she is 21 and is off at college. I had her do the research on the 3 that are out there to decide which one is the correct one for her. There is a Kindle, the Nook and the Sony E-reader. She has choosen the Nook. She will be able to download books in 60 seconds for about $10 each and store over 300 books on it.
We are considering it since we could then give her gift cards to get additional books on future holidays.
It will remember your page you were on and it the font can be enlarged by the push of a button.

I think they are a great, but I still like the feel of holding a book when I read and I would hate to be in the middle of reading and the battery go out and no where to recharge. They would be great for traveling, you could take a lot of books with you or for a college student. I just hope we never totally do away with books.
They are selling like crazy. Several other companies have come out with something similar as well.

I know a couple of people who have them. The only drawback I can see is that they make it difficult for you share your books. I usually read a book and then it gets passed around to friends and family and they do the same...but the plus side is that they are light weight and have BIG print. And after nearly killing myself while reading Stephen King's 1,074 page, 3 lb. book, "Under the Dome", light weight could be a good thing! :D

I've looked into them and asked Santa for the Kindle 1. I go through 3-4 books per week and am running out of places for books. The kindle will hold approximately 1500 books!!! I told my DH that if I get the Kindle, our luggage will be lighter when we travel since I won't have to cart all of those hardcover books

I own the small kindle and LOVE it. I never thought I would say that. I enjoy books and have always been a "page turner."
***The kindle is light. My arms used to ache after reading a particularly large tome!
***You can finish a book and have it's sequel in a few seconds! Excellent when you're reading a series.
***You can adjust the print size from small to large.
***When you travel you don't have to pack a lot of books since you can get a new book just about anywhere with the 3G wireless.
I had out first kindle and got tired of sharing with my husband so he got his own kindle for his birthday. There is no problem with sharing books between the two household kindles. I hope we can figure out how to share with my sister and niece now.
